Indications:

• Fluticasone and salmeterol inhalation is a steroid and bronchodilator combination medicine that is used to prevent asthma attacks.
• It is also used to prevent flare-ups or worsening of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) associated with chronic bronchitis and/or emphysema.
• In people with COPD, fluticasone and salmeterol is for long-term treatment.
• In people with asthma, fluticasone and salmeterol is for short-term treatment until symptoms are well controlled with other medicines.
• It is used in maintenance treatment of asthma in adults and adolescents who do not achieve adequate control with inhaled corticosteroids and short-acting beta 2 adrenergic agonists on demand.
• It is used in maintenance therapy in COPD patients with an FEV1 less than 60% post-bronchodilator and who present an exacerbator phenotype.

Dosage:

The dose will be established individually according to the medical criteria and clinical picture of the patient.

For inhalation, dose according to fluticasone content.

• Adults and those over 12 years of age: 2 inhalations with 50, 125, or 250 mcg of fluticasone and 25 or 50 mcg of salmeterol every 12 h, maximum dose 500/50 mcg every 12 h.
• Pediatrics: 4 to 12 years: 2 inhalations with 50 mcg of fluticasone and 25 or 50 mcg of salmeterol every 12 hours.

Mode of administration:

• Whenever possible, administer while standing or sitting upright. Breathe out (expire) as far as reasonably possible, place the inhaler in your mouth, begin to breathe in slowly (inhale) and immediately press the inhaler to release the drug, remove the inhaler from your mouth, hold your breath for about 10 seconds or as long as possible and then breathe out (expire) slowly.
• If you use a spacer, continue to use the same brand of spacer as changing brands may affect the amount of dose delivered to your lungs; if this is not possible, see your doctor for a dose adjustment. For best benefit, use daily even when you have no symptoms.
